How to Choose a Short Sale Agent
Do you want to work with an experienced short sale agent or one who has closed so many short sales in the local market regardless of their experience? Choosing a short sale agent can be a daunting task, but it doesn’t have to be so if you are armed with some basic questions to ask the agent. How an agent responds to your questions would go a long way in helping you make an informed decision. Some of the questions to ask an agent you are considering hiring include:
Can you see any red flags on my deal? – a good agent should know the tell-tale signs of a good or bad short sale deal, and should be in a position to warn you about them. Although the agent’s licence does not mandate them to give tax or legal advice, a good candidate should be familiar with the feasible tax and legal consequences to advice you accordingly so you can take further action.
How long with the deal take to close – this is the million dollar question because it lacks a straight forward answer. Some lending institutions are very easy to predict while others are not. An agent who has good experience in the local market can advice you on the probable period it will take for a deal to close.
